Israel warns of ‘long war’ ahead!
Israel is at war after large-scale surprise attacks by Palestinian insurgents against Israeli military and civilian sites early on Saturday from the blockaded Gaza Strip.
Both sides have suffered from hundreds of fatalities, while the number of Israelis held captive is unknown. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that his country was “embarking on a long and difficult war” as it dealt with an unprecedented hostage situation.
Over 1,000 Israelis were injured on the first day of attacks and combat, and at least 250 Israelis killed. According to health official in Gaza, there were roughly 2000 2,000 injured Palestinians along with more than 230 fatalities.
Israel pledges to fully destroy Hamas
As per Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel would “reach into every place Hamas is hiding” and bury those places in debris. The Israeli military is recruiting reservists, strengthening its bases, and launching airstrikes on targets in Gaza. Anyone in the Gaza strip who is in area where Hamas operates should “leave those places now,” Netanyahu said. He went on, “Israel will settle the score with anyone who harms them.”
Hamas, the Islamist militant group, took control of Gaza in 2007.
How did the world react?
Strong reactions were received by the incident on Saturday from all over the world. Many European countries condemned the violence, and US President Joe Biden stated his administration is “rock solid and unwavering” in its support for Israel’s security.
Pleas for release of hostages
Israelis are sharing photos of friends and family who they say have been kidnapped by Hamas militants, many of them women and children.
