Drew Barrymore has apologised to television and film writers

The Drew Barrymore Show, a daytime discussion show on CBS, has resumed production, according to Drew Barrymore’s revelation this week.

The  Show, would return for the fourth season amid SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, actor Drew Barrymore issued an emotional apology in a  video on her Instagram on Friday.

She said, “I believe there’s nothing I can do or say in this moment to make it okay. I wanted to own a decision so it wasn’t a PR-protected situation and I would just take full responsibility for my actions. There are so many reasons why this is so complex and I just want everyone to know my intentions have never been in a place to upset or hurt anyone, that’s not who I am. I’ve been through so many ups and downs in my life and this is one of them.”

Producing and distributing The Drew Barrymore Show is CBS Media Ventures, a division of Paramount Global, one of the media giants that the WGA writers are now on strike against. The programme will restart without any new writing or literary work in order to comply with the terms of the strike and continue production.

TV and film writers in the Writers Guild of America went on strike in May after the union was unable to come to a new contract agreement with the Hollywood studios and streamers. SAG-AFTRA, the union representing 160,000 actors and performers, went on strike in July after they too were unable to reach a new contract agreement with major studios. Wages, streaming residuals and AI usage remain central issues in the stalemate.
