Coco Gauff has made it to the women’s singles final of the US Open tennis tournament despite protests by environmental activists.

The 19-year-old  Coco Gauff, now the youngest women’s finalist at the US Open since Serena Williams in 1999, won 6-4 7-5 against Czech Karolina Muchova Muchová and will face Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday’s showpiece.

This was her 16th win in the last 17 matches and she will now face 10th ranked Karolina Mukhova of Czech Republic. Mukhova, who played the French Open final, defeated Sorana Christie of Romania 6-0, 6-3. Last year she was out of the first round of the US Open.

After Karolina Muchova’s backhand effort fell short, the next point turned up being the crucial one. Muchova felt rather let down by her own performance.

Due to a disturbance by four environmental activists in the Arthur Ashe Stadium stands on Thursday night, the semifinal game was delayed by 49 minutes.

Gauff’s victory against Muchova was her 17th in her past 18 contests and her 11th straight win. Gauff has also won two championships throughout his amazing winning streak. In the US Open final, Gauff will face off Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed. In a thrilling US Open semifinal that lasted about one in the morning (local time), Sabalenka defeated 2017 US Open runner-up Madison Keys 0-6, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (10-5).
